Most probably a loanword from Aramaic (AHw. 841 pašāqu D mng. 2, CAD P 545, Cherry 2017:205f.). As argued in Cherry 2017:206, the unusual correspondence Aramaic š ~ Assyrian š (instead of the expected s) may be due to the influence of
pašāḳu ‘to be narrow’.
