Note also the meaning ‘vis-à-vis’ (with a semantic shift from ‘breast’ found elsewhere in Sem. -- see *nagd- - bosom, breast No. 195). Cf. manḥūr- ‘part of the body around the collarbone’ [ibid.].
According to [Leslau Loanwords 150] probably an Arabism.
