*nwp - to swing (Kogan 2015:566)

The meaning of Akk. nâpu, translated as ‘schwanken’ in AHw. 742, is highly uncertain (cf. CAD N₁ 327) which makes its comparison rather problematic (Kogan 2015:566).

Proto-MSA
*nwp - to make a sign (Kogan 2015:566)

Hebrew
nwp - (hip.) to move to and fro, to brandish (HALOT 682)
Syriac
nwp - se inclinavit; pependit (to bow (intr.); to hang) (LSyr. 421)
Arabic

Likely ultimately related to this root (originally “to swing over something”?): Kogan 2015:566.
