PS

*ˀVnar-, *ˀVran- - a small predatory mammal (SED II No. 8)

Akkadian
mīrānu - young dog, puppy; cub of a wild animal (CAD M₂ 105, AHw. 658)
Var. mūrānu.
Ugaritic
ˀinr - dog, cur (DUL 83)
Ugaritic
ˀirn - puppy, puppy-dog (DUL 104, differently Watson 2007: 78)
Semantically rather uncertain, a connection with either Akk. urnu ‘a snake’ or Akk. mīrānu ‘young dog, puppy’ is not to be ruled out (cf. SED II No.8), but there is no reason to assume an Akkadian loanword in any of the two cases (Kogan 2015: 360). The word is extensively discussed in Aartun 1983. Cf. also DRS 26.
Arabic
ˀrn - mordre, saisir avec les dents (to bite, to grasp with teeth) (BK 1 27)

Arabic
ˀirān-, miˀrān- - repaire d'une bête feroce (lair of a ferocious beast) (BK 1 27)
Possibly related.
Arabic
hārūn- - chat (Dozy II 752)
Possibly related (unless a secondary derivation from hirr- id., ibid. 760).
Amharic
anär - wildcat (Viverra genetta) (K 1211)
