ˀəyy- - conjugated element used to introduce the subject of a nominal sentence (TED 1521)

This word is quite close to nota accusativi in form, but differs from it in function. This might be considered as an additional argument for the theory that posits elements of ergativity in individual Semitic languages and, possibly, in Proto-Semitic. See Arakelova 2001:38.
