Jewish Babylonian Aramaic

naˁāmītā - ostrich (DJBA 759)

PS
*nu/aˁ(ā)m- - ostrich (SED II No. 155)
Central Semitic only. Note that the Common Semitic status of the present root is defended in Nöldeke 1879 1263 Cf. Arb. nuḥām- ‘sorte d’oiseau semblable à ľoie, au plumage rouge’ (BK 2 1217, Fr. IV 304, LA XII 572). A variant root with ḥ vs. ˁ and a meaning shift?
