wānos, yonās - dove (CDG 615, 627)

The peculiar form of the Gez. term (attested also as yonās, CDG 628) may be due to contamination of the present root with the Ethiopian name of the prophet Jonah (Yonās, from Greek), cf. CDG 628 (”an interpretation of the proper name Jonah” ).
