The element *k-, on which this pronominal suffix is based, is charachteristic of independent personal pronouns ubiquitously in gunnän-Gurage. The masculine marker -äw can be compared to the suffix -äw in Soddo, but one cannot exclude that it is rather to be related to archaic 3 sg. genitive pronominal suffixes in other EthS. subgroups (Bulakh–Kogan 2013b: 104).
