PS

*nVṣVr- - cricket (SED II No. 167)

Likely related to *ṣarṣa/ūr- ‘cricket’ (SED No. 213) but to be reconstructed as an independent PS root unless ˀ/ˁVn- in the Eth. forms is analyzed as a prefixed element (which is not uncommon in Ethiopian). In this case, the Eth. terms can be immediately compared to * *ṣarṣa/ūr-.
