*prˁ - to repay, to pay a debt (EDA I 307)

Could go back to PS *prṣ̂ ‘to cut, to pierce, to incise’. The exact link between these meanings remains to be clarified, but Brockelmann’s reference to Arb. frḍ probably implies a connection with ‘to appoint, to assign a definite portion, to give’ (Lane 2373).
