Regarded as Arabism by Leslau (CDG 107). He comments Wol. bärs ‘scar’ as «perhaps from Cushitic» quoting Sidamo and Oromo bassa ‘scar’ [ibid.], but which can hardly be separated from other S.E. Eth. parallels.
