This interpretation seems to be better supported by the context (mḥrm gnztn ‘sanctuary of the dead’ = ‘cemetery’) than ‘funeral (n.)?’ given in [SD 50] > (?) gnz-t ‘funeral (n.)?’
PS
*gVn(ā)z(-at)- - (dead) body, back (of body)
(SED I No. 87)
Apparently related to (derived from?) this root is Sem. *gnz ‘to wrap up the corpse, to prepare a body for funerals’
