Arabic

dīn- - a particular law, a statute, an ordinance, a law (Lane 944)

It is hard to say whether Arb. dayn- ‘debt’ (Lane 943) is enventually related to this root. Clearly borrowed from Arabic are Mhr. dɛyn ‘debt’ (ML 78), Jib. dun ‘debt’ (JL 44), Soq. šédyen ‘to borrow’ (LS 127).
