Within the Soqotri language, it is only ḳal’ífoʰ that is strictly applied to the bark of trees, as in ʕag ḳö́ḷof ḳal’ífo men šérhom ‘a man removed the bark from the tree’. The word ḳaríšoʰ has a broader meaning, such as “husk” or “shell”. (Kogan 2015:486)
