The lexical pair of Arabic ḫiḍb-, but the data are insufficient for a reliable reconstruction. Possibly an Akkadian-Arabic borrowing, though without an Aramaic intermediary (Kogan–Krebernik 2021a:392).
OB Mari. Probably, related to this PWS root *ḥbš, and if so, is considered to be the earliest witness of the root (Kogan 2015:209).
