Was borrowed into Aramaic and, then, Arabic: JPA byb ‘underground conduit’, JBA bybˀ ‘underground conduit’, Syr. bibā ‘canaľ and Arb. bīb- ‘a course of water leading to a pooľ. A presumably related lexeme with a different vocalic and structural shape is attested in JBA bwbytˀ, bbytˀ ‘channeľ, Syr. bubyā ‘canal, aqueduct’.
