Akkadian
papru - (an object) (CAD P 115, AHw. 824)
Or. babru, bapru, pabru. No etymology can be suggested.
Akkadian
parādu - to be fearful, disturbed, restless, upset (CAD P 141, AHw. 827)
Derived words: pardiš ‘frighteningly’ (CAD P 182, AHw. 833); pardu ‘frightened, frightening’ (CAD P 182, AHw. 833); pirittu ‘fear, terror’ (CAD P 402, AHw. 866); purrudu ‘frightened’ (CAD P 522, AHw. 881); pitrudu ‘confused’ (CAD P 442, AHw. 870).
As pointed out in Huehnergard 1991a:693, the MSA verbs with the meaning ‘to flee in panic’ come remarkably close to parādu: Mhr. fәrōd ‘to stampede, to panic; to make off, to run away’, Jib. férɔ́d ‘to stampede, to panic’ (JL 59), Soq. férod ‘fuir’. Nearly the same meaning is attested in Syr. prad ‘fugit, avolavit’, (pa.) ‘fugavit’, (af.) ‘terruit, fugavit’. A further connection with *prd ‘to be separated’ is usually assumed.
Akkadian
