1974, 81, it “only serves to complicate the situation” as there is no way to explain the unexpected -t-. It is unclear why Kaufman labels
the Hebrew verb “an Aramaic type form” (not considered an Aramaism in Wagner 1966): one wonders, rather, whether the comparable
forms in Jewish Aramaic dialects, such as JPA
ptr “to interpret, to explain” (DJPA 456) and JBA
ptr id. (DJBA 949), might be Hebraizing (EDA I 453)
