Could go back to *pšr, but it is completely isolated in Ethiopian. One would be tempted to consider it an Arabism, but no comparable meanings are attested for fsr in Arabic (not registered among Arabisms in Tigre in Leslau 1990). At the same time, it comes rather close semantically to some of the Aramaic verbs derived from this root.
